In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.

 

To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:

 

Mobile Mechanic

 

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Mine Site Mechanic to join our mobile maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy mobile equipment and machinery used in mining operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment availability, safety, and efficiency at the mine site.

 

Key Responsibilities 



  • Perform scheduled maintenance and unscheduled repairs on a wide range of mining equipment including haul trucks, loaders, dozers, excavators, graders, and drilling equipment.

 

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.

 

  • Conduct regular equipment inspections and document findings.

 

  • Replace or repair faulty parts such as transmissions, engines, brakes, and hydraulic components.

 

  • Maintain accurate service records and complete job cards and reports.

 

  • Collaborate with operators and other maintenance personnel to prioritize repairs.

 

  • Adhere to all site safety procedures, protocols, and environmental regulations.

 

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in maintenance practices.

 

  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training as required.

 

 

Qualifications/Skills and Experience



  1. Technical qualification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience in mining or industrial operations.

 

 Additional

  • Proven experience working on CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, or similar mining equipment.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems (e.g. SAP, CMMS) is an advantage.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Physically fit to work in a mining environment.

Working Conditions

  • Position based at the OKO Project site.
  • Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off
  • Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.

  • 1-year contract for the construction period, with the possibility of a permanent position once the mine is in operation.
