Job Purpose

The role is responsible for support in monitoring, development and assisting with the health, safety, security, environmental (HSSE) and compliance monitoring and related procedures in accordance with local regulatory, international aviation regulatory and Group standards. The position supports the implementation and documentation of all HSSE Policies and guidelines (local and international) as well as the GCG Group standards, policies and procedures relating to Health, Safety, Security, Environmental and Aviation compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities ​

1.    Support with development and administration of the company’s health, safety, security and environmental management systems in conjunction with the HSSE Manager.
2.    Support with risk assessments evaluations and audits to ensure conformity with the SHAW ACT of Barbados. Internal 
3.    Support with external audits for HSSE and compliance inspections, audits and facility risk assessment to the Company’s work areas; to identify hazards and monitor adherence to Statutory Requirements, Company Safety Policies, Procedures and Systems, and support with follow up on corrective actions and recommendations for improvement.
4.    Support with completing training and education about the safety management systems, accident reporting document and training, procedures of the catering and ground handling operations and any other training deemed necessary for the position.
5.    Reviews approved operations’ policies, procedures and systems and makes appropriate recommendations where necessary.
6.    Support with accident investigations (follow-up to get documents and statements and take part in the investigations, prepares reports and monitoring of corrective actions to minimize the potential for the recurrence of such accidents, serious incidents / unsafe conditions / system failures that have occurred.
7.    Prepare accident and incidents statistical reports
8.    Assists in the oversight and enforcement of the company’s General Standard Orders for Security Operations and security personnel.
9.    Support with HSSE and quality assurance training for employees and contractors in conjunction with the Training Officer.
10.    Coordinates and reviews the company’s Emergency Response Plans and required activation as and when required.
11.    Support with Facilitates bi-annual fire/evacuation drill and ensure that all local fire safety and related certificates are updated in in place.
12.    Conducts internal aircraft turnaround, safety and building audits based on the frequency determined as necessary.
13.    Must act in accordance with the company’s Policies
14.    Assist the department in any other related functions as needed to meet the goals of the organization.
15.    Perform any other HSSE and compliance related duties as directed by the direct supervisor/manager.

Qualifications & Skills

•    BSc. Engineering, Management or other discipline
•    Diploma in Technical HSSE or Management field
•    5 Years experience in a similar role
•    A demonstrated combination of education and training
•    Valid Driver’s license and Defensive Driving will be an asset.
•    Experience in Safety, Security and Quality Auditing
•    Training in Health and Safety, Security 
•    MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel)
