Job Summary
This position will be responsible for coordinating and delivering instruction to health science high school classes. This will include participation in content development, and arranging simulation lab and/or clinical experience. Must work within Midland College, ISD and professional regulatory agency guidelines.
Essential Functions
Assist in development of health science course curriculum Instruct health science students in theory and skill Utilize a variety of effective and professional teaching techniques and methods to assist students in attaining the performance objectives of the courses Assist in maintaining accreditation from regulatory agencies as appropriate Oversee clinical experience of students in various community clinical sites and in a simulation lab Prepare report of students’ success according to Midland College and ISD guidelines Maintain budgetary compliance Attend meetings as required by the Department Chair and Director Observe the administrative policies and mission of Midland College Fulfill faculty roles and responsibilities as outlined in Midland College Policy and Administrative Regulations and as outlined in the Employee and Faculty Handbooks Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift, move, and/or carry up to 25 pounds Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time Use of manual dexterity Primarily indoor classroom, simulation laboratory and community healthcare setting with common related body fluids present. Employee will come in direct contact with Midland College staff, students, and the public Ability to communicate with students, patients, families, and health team members Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Some travel to clinical sites may be required
Required Qualifications
Must possess a current license to practice in a health care occupation by a state or nationally recognized accrediting agency Minimum of three years experience in related health care profession Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy Knowledge of Microsoft Word, general office equipment, and equipment related to health care delivery Strong organizational skills Self-motivated Knowledge of health profession regulations Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, both orally and in writing Interest in working in a college and high school setting Ability to work effectively as a member of the instructional team
Preferred Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor degree in health science related field Experience teaching adolescent or adult students Experience teaching health science material One year of working experience in a Long Term Care Facility (Nursing Home)
