Company Accountant (6 x month contract)
Overview: Our client is the main distributor for a globally recognized Beverage
Manufacturer with a distribution network across the Caribbean and Europe. As a
result of internal restructuring, they are seeking to employ a strong
accountant who is available to commence employment in Jan/Feb 2025 in the
Barbados officer for a fixed term 6 x month contract, with the probability of
the role becoming permanent.
Due
to the global business hours, the role comes with highly flexible work hours
(e.g. 6.00/7.00am start – early PM finish) and the autonomy of being
responsible for managing their own workload according to international business
hours whist reporting to an overseas based C.F.O.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- All bookkeeping, preparing invoices, accruals to ensure
accurate and timely are maintained.
- Prepare and manage product costings and analysis to support
supply and logistics activities.
- Prepare and manage analysis and pricing strategies to support
the Company's sales activities.
- Prepare timely & accurate monthly consolidated management
accounts.
- Manage cash flows for the Group, including instructing
payments.
- Prepare and submit Excise, VAT, PAYE and other local tax
returns, in a timely fashion.
- Review annual Corporate Tax Computations.
- Vet new customers, including completing Know Your Customer
work and setting up new customers.
- Prepare and send out all invoicing to the customers (inc.
proforma and final invoices).
- Work with the Logistics team to understand the forecast from
customers and the impact on the Company's finances.
- Obtain and review monthly reporting from customers, including
purchase orders, depletion reporting, performance against targets & prior month forecasting, and marketing spends.
- Support the CFO in providing financial management for all
activities within the group.
- Manage with the CFO all cash flows for the Group.
- Support the CFO and Board of Directors on all financial
matters, including support with preparation of board papers, finance reports and
business plans as required.
- Manage the Companies' P&Ls and Balance sheets.
- Prepare annual financial statements for review by the CFO and
work with the Auditors.
- Participate in meetings providing financial support for
business decisions.
- Be available to meet with Board members monthly in person or
by video conference as required.
- Assist the CFO to manage the Companies' relationships with
the banks in Barbados and St Lucia.
- Support the CFO, CEO and Global Logistics Director on any
other ad-hoc tasks that are required.
Requirements
- Either full designation (ACCA/CGA etc.) or nearing completion.
- Experience working in the Distribution or Retail Sector an
advantage but not Strong proven oral communication skills, ideally with
European executives.
- Competent “Self-Starter” with a pro-active work attitude.
- Accustomed to managing all areas of accounting work with
minimal support (Note: this is a low volume transaction role but still requires
attention to detail with regards reporting, budget control etc.)
- Available to commence employment immediately
(January/February 2025).
- Possess (or confident of obtaining) a valid PCC and suitable
previous employer references.
