Education

- Current CNA certification for Long Term Care in the state of Mississippi
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – required within 90 days of hire
- Blood Glucose Monitoring Certification – required within 90 days of hire
Experience
- Prior experience in long-term care or a healthcare setting preferred, but not required

Job Summary
- Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Long Term Care provides personal care and support to residents, ensuring their psychosocial and physical needs are met in alignment with geriatric care standards
- The CNA-LTC plays an essential role in maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment while delivering compassionate, resident-centered care
Essential Functions
- Assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, grooming, toileting, mobility, and nutrition
- Performs basic clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, weight, intake/output, and blood glucose monitoring
- Provides physical assistance with repositioning, ambulation, and use of assistive devices
- Supports residents during admissions, discharges, and transports to other areas for procedures
- Observes and reports changes in residents’ condition, behavior, and pain levels
- Responds to call lights promptly and ensures resident comfort and safety
- Assists with feeding and hydration, and monitors dietary needs as directed
- Maintains resident rooms and unit cleanliness, restocks supplies, and manages minor housekeeping tasks
- Follows infection prevention protocols, universal precautions, and proper use of PPE
- Accurately documents care, observations, and activities in the medical record in a timely manner
- Participates in resident care planning, in-service training, and continuous improvement efforts
- Upholds regulatory standards and ethical conduct in all job functions
